Southwest Indiana Throwing Camp was established in 2010 by Ron Kahle of Gibson Southern High School and Lynette Washington of Indiana State University. They sought to provide Southern Indiana throwers with the opportunity to gather and learn some of the basic techniques to be a successful thrower, at a one day camp. Now over 13 years later the camp routinely sees over 60 athletes and aspiring coaches attend.
In 2023, with the popularity of the one day camp and individuals seeking further instruction. It was decided to expand beyond just one day of instruction. Along with the expansion of services, it was decided that Southwest Indiana Throwing Camp would undergo a rebranding to Midwest Throws. Every June we will continue hosting our flagship Southwest Indiana Throwing Camp.
Mission Statement:
Midwest Throws strives to provide instruction to help educate and coach motivated student athletes and coaches, while creating informative content. To inspire and educate the next generation of throwers and to cultivate the overall growth of track and field.
